Changeling
Silence ringing in the air
I feel the weight of your accusing stare
My knuckles are white on the steering wheel
The high kicks in and my thoughts reel
Numbly I open my door, and escape into the night
Far from the city and it’s cold light
In a forest, far from your hawk-like gaze
I bathe myself in the moon’s comforting rays
Like a wolf, finding peace among my forest bretheren
A sudden peace overwhelms me, something not found often
I feel myself changing, an old soul shedding it’s humanity
Limbs stretch and buckle, reforming, regaining sanity
I crouch beneath the moon, in my most natural form
Between being human, and harboring the beast, I am torn
A howl rips loose from deep within my soul
It speaks of intense heartache, and a heart grown cold
My paws tear up the ground as I race to the mountain’s peak
Striving to find my home, a place where the earth itself speaks
A long journey lay ahead of me, with only the moon as my guide
A journey I shall have to make with no one at my side
A spirit quest, that shall divide me from the one soul I desire
With resolve of steel, until I find you again, I shall never give up or tire
For I must find myself, before I could ever be with you
Once my quest is complete, I shall find the one love that was always true
